Justícia i Pau is a Catalan organisation devoted to rising citizens’ awareness on such issues as human rights, social justice, peace and disarmament, solidarity and respect for the environment, and political pressure on institutions and parties. Among its reports, there are lots of information about how much the Spanish government invests in the army and about the export and manufacture of arms in this country. The intelligence published by the Spanish government is usually so cryptic and misleading that an experts’ commission is necessary to untangle it.
In one of these reports, there is a staggering figure: each frigate F100 of the Spanish Navy costs 517 million euros, which is the budget to pay unemployment benefits to 71,428 people for one year. Taking into account that there are 5 frigates F100, it would mean unemployment benefits for 350,000 people.

So maybe you all should pay nothing for your defense and just let the US baby sit you? What an easy nation to invade
ReplyDeleteHonestly, do you truly think that Spain is a good target to invade? What for? Anyway, it would be much more clever, cost-effective and democratic to have only one world army, instead of 200 armies, to "baby sit" all of us... if we need only 5% of the current expenditure in military forces and weapons, we could invest the rest of our wealth in education, health and pensions....
ReplyDeleteThanks to the investment in this program spain has sold 5 frigates to norway and 3 to australia, earning billions in returns, creating jobs and technological knowhow....perhaps it would have been better to invest the money in letting people stay at home and do nothing!!
ReplyDeleteSpain is a good target to invade, the Arabs want Spain, or should I say Al-Andaluz, back. The Reconquest is coming, you either invest in your defense or surrender... unless your plan is to let the Americans and English fight for you. LOL!!
